The Brethren is a group of professional male vocalists who gather with a Christian heart in making music as a ministry for themselves and others. Performing with or without accompaniment, their repertoire encompasses all styles from traditional hymns and patriotic standards to contemporary gospel music and chamber ensemble. The Brethren also performs in other configurations from Southern Gospel quartet to popular music and “doo-wop.” Over half of the gentlemen in this male ensemble are members of our USA military ensembles including the Army Chorus, Navy Sea Chanters, Air Force Singing Sergeants, Army Field Band and Navy Band. You will be delighted not only to hear this concert of vocal blend and precision but will enjoy hearing personal testimonies of their Christian walk through life.

Rejoicing when in loss...

As I write this my motions are mixed. I am both joyful but sad at the same time. I remember a few verses...
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."
Philippians 3:20-21 "For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; who will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory, by the exertion of the of the power that He has even to subject all things to Himself."
Philippians 4:4 "Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice"
Titus 3:4-7 "But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but in according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that being justified by His grace we might be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life."
Oh what thoughts, emotions and memories fill me as I remember a childhood friend, brother in Christ, son and brother.
Friday, June 12, 2009; around 3pm in the afternoon, God called home one of His own, Alan B. Tyler. Alan went home to be with our Lord and Savior after being hit in the side of the head while at work. They said it was instant, and in that instant he was with his Savior. We mourn his loss and his earthly body but rejoice knowing that Alan had accepted Jesus Chist as his Lord and Savior and is with Him now in Heaven.
Alan and I grew up across the street from each other and had know each other since as early as I can remember. I remember playing hide and go seek with Alan, his sister Tracy and my brothers, chasing fireflys, and riding bikes. I remember many mornings we would yell across the street to see if the school bus had come yet and then running to catch it. Alan had a green, Ford F-150 and love taking it muddin! That was one fun truck. In high school Alan went with the youth group from Immanuel Baptist Church to a camp callled The Wilds. There Alan put his faith and trust in Jesus Christ. I think it was later that summer in August, at Immanuel Baptist that Alan was baptized making public his profession of faith. May we also remember the hope that we have in salvation, that we can simply put our faith and trust in Jesus. That we are sinners and if we but ask God to forgive us we are saved by His grace. That we will receive new bodies, and spend eternity in heaven with our God, as Alan did.
Alan we will miss you, my brother and friend but we have hope of salvation and I know we will see you again. Please keep Alan's family (Bruce, Tina & Tracy) and friends in your prayers as they mourn their loss but rejoice with them also as they celebrate his life.
